Meanwhile in Maine...
We miss Gary here at the shop but he is having a blast and a well deserved vacation before his classes start. Check this out: Gary visited Androscoggin Wooden Boat Works, had a pretty cool office location and even got to go back to his roots in filming. Have fun Gary!
Shane has just finished filling and bunging the remaining holes & sanding to prep for stain on the deck & transom. The U18 even had a familiar face visit. That's right the owner of the U18 came in to say hi & check on progress. Lookin good!
Shane has installed the rutter & bed log for the Riviera. He also made a mounting plate for a new in-line fuel filter. Exciting stuff!
Jack and Shane permanently installed the port side bottom with 5200 marina adhesive and covered it to allow curing. Next is the starboard side
Shane put a primer coat on the bottom and 2 coats of paint. The whirlwind is ready to flip and get its deck redone!
Carolina Flats Skiff
Meghan has started sanding the bottom paint off in preparation for installing the new skids & re-painting.
Jack has almost completed the engine tune up and maintenance. He is now installing the new spark plugs and impeller for the water pump. We are currently waiting on the alternator to return from getting work done and then next he will reinstall the engine.
This new boat has gotten its windshield removed and inspection started on the frames for cracks, breaks, or rot. Next Shane & Jack will be doing a leak test. Stay up to date on all things wooden boat restoration here and on our facebook!
