The weather has been favorable. This week in "class" Gary taught us how to tie a bowline knot and 2 half hitches. We learned Shane is a knot-tying champ. Such a cool crew! 20ft "Celebrity" Welcome to the shop little guy. Nicolas found a new passion project! An award-winning 1952 Celebrity Class Sloop. Made in Holland of mahogany, strip planked and edge nailed, the boats were finished in gleaming varnish. In the late 50's some owners switched to fiberglass. Some did the entire hull which added considerable weight, and some glassed right to the water line. In 1965, this boat won the Celebrity Nationals! '55 Continental I helped Gary with a bunch of really cool stuff this week; installing the rudder, bilge blower, the fuel line and fuel tank, tiller arm, and stuffing box. 15' Lyman The Lyman is ready for a sea trial, a break-in run with a new engine. While trolling at slow speeds, might as well drop a line. They were biting that day. '56 Continental Primed the water line on this one as well. "Cruiser" Shane sands the bottom of the 1994 Cruiser sloop rig and preps to paint the new waterline "Piglet" I dry fit the rub rails for the 1933 double ended Elecri-Craft. They're ready to be permanently mounted and then this boat is good to go! Check back next week!

'55 Continental Gary and I dry fit the strut, ready to permanently mount next week Coronado Shane really knows how to put his back into it! He finished the bottom of the Coronado. We moved it down from the gantry crane and put the 19' Lyman up so we can get to work on that next. Looks great Shane!
Moving and lifting boats over our heads is always scary. No one died this week, yay! Another week down - the boat work continues! Coronado Early on in the week Shane put a coat of varnish on the Coronado. Once it dried we lowered the 26ft Sea Skiff from the gantry crane and replaced it with the Coronado to access the bottom. Shane is working on sanding and patching the bottom now and prepping it for paint. 26' Sea Skiff We've completed the bottom of the Sea Skiff '56 Continental This week, I taped off the waterline and put a coat of green bottom paint on. Nicolas cut out the secondary dash panel and applied stain and varnish. He installed the floorboards, bilge, linkage, and steering. Gary helped me dry fit the rub rails after steam bending last week and we shaped them down before staining and sealing '55 Continental On the '55, Shane and I completed the permanent installation of the splash rails and I applied another coat of varnish 15' Lyman A brand spankin' new Suzuki motor finally arrived for the Lyman. Ooh la la! 18' Sea Skiff Jack redid the stuffing box and realigned the engine Utility Deluxe
Jack put the rest of the floorboards together and applied a coat of varnish to the deck and windshields. We enjoyed less rain and more sun this week, spirits are high. Gary said we can come with him on a sea trial later today. FIELD TRIP! Happy Friday y'all. '55 Continental Shane and I tag-teamed another coat of varnish on the Continental this week. Shane will dry fit the spray rails and rub rails More floor work. Tearing up the old, pulling out staples, painting, fitting the new stuff. 18' Sea Skiff Jack and Gary finished some engine work and installing the windows, so it's prepped and ready for a trial run soon. 19' Lyman Shane has finished putting a nice white coat of trim, he put the rub rail back on, a coat of varnish on the transom, and installed the exhaust. '41 Utility Deluxe Jack prepped the Chris Craft Utility for another coat of varnish '56 Continental Nicolas installed the dashboard - now that the steering is in place. He is finalizing the layout for the secondary dash panel. Nicolas did a lot to prep in order to steam bend the rub rails, when it came time to actually do the bending it was a group effort.
