Hey y'all! Just a reminder that Gary is up in Maine teaching his annual classes. We're requesting that visitors either call ahead to schedule an appointment or wait until Gary returns in a few weeks. Meghan will be out of town on Friday so no blog this week, next week we'll be back to our regularly scheduled program. 26' Sea Skiff Jack made patterns for the seat cushions to have sent off the the upholsterer. 1960 Bristol This week Jack started removing half of the bottom from the Bristle to further access more of the chine. Cruisers Inc. Shane has been working on the Cruisers Inc., removing hardware, cleaning, and has began prepping the old varnish for more coats. 19ft Lyman Meghan dry fit the keelson, keel, and both cheekboards, pre-drilled holes, and primed the cheekboards. Next she'll install cheekboards before replacing and repairing broken rib sections. Chris Craft Holiday
Nicolas sanded the bottom, filled in any holes and gaps with filler, and finished priming and painting the bottom. He had to remake the bow piece from a new piece of Mahogany which took some steam-bending. He's been hand planing between the planks to create a more smooth surface feel.

Chris Craft Holiday Nicolas replaced part of the stem on the bow and then reshapes it with a hand planer. He dry fit both outer chines, also shaped with a hand plane, and installed them with the mahogany 5200. 1960 Bristol We turned the Bristol over to start work on the bottom. Jack is separating the bottom and sides from the aft chines sections in order to gain better access and assess the damage further. 19ft Lyman Meghan carefully matched the keelson angle to the keel. Check out the old pieces next to the new ones! She scraped and cleaned off the rest of the gunky stuff along the bottom ribs, and dry-fit the starboard side cheek board to mark it for hand-planing. Cruisers Inc. Shane is removing the deck hardware, seats, and instruments to prep for a full cosmetic restoration. Gary up in Maine doing product testing!
26' Sea Skiff Shane is putting another coat of varnish on the windshield frame. Chris Craft Holiday Nicolas and Shane have started to remove the old varnish with the heat-gun, the rest of it will be sanded off. The bottom is also sanded and almost ready for the new paint. Nicolas is perfectly shaping the chines before permanently installing them. 1967 Lyman I've replicated both cheek boards, I just have some hand planing left on the starboard side. The keel and keelson have also been replicated and next I'll cut new garboards. '55 Continental The alligator dash panel is in and ready to be installed. 1956 Sportsman
The elbow and repaired prop just came back in so we'll get the on asap! We have a lot of updates this week since I only featured myself working on the big Lyman last week. Oops! New boat alert: we're thrilled to have two new boats here; a 1960 Bristol and a Cruisers Inc. 1962 Chris Craft Holiday Things are shaping up nicely. The chines are being completely replaced and we've sanded the bottom to get it ready for a repaint. He's on cosmetic stuff now, floor boards, rub rails, polishing original brass pieces, etc. We plan to test run it today! 1960 Bristol New to the shop - we'll be replacing the chines only. Cruisers Inc. New to the shop - Shane gives the Cruisers Inc a good vacuuming and then a good swab of the deck. On this one we'll be doing a full cosmetic restoration. Paint, varnish, touch-ups, etc. 19ft Lyman After removing the garboards last week we could get to the cheek boards and the keelson, which also needed replacing.
